One month later: How the diverging diamond on 41st Street is working - Dakota News Now 08/02/2024

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - It has now officially been one month since the completion of the diverging diamond that was supposed to improve the lives of residents by reducing travel time. We checked in with project organizers and travelers to see how things have been moving.

“It’s by far probably the most heavily trafficked road, and prior to construction, traffic would back up,” said Kirk Henderson, Sioux Falls DOT engineering supervisor.

The project was a collaborative effort with South Dakota DOT and the City of Sioux Falls.

“We work with the state regularly on looking at these corridors and interchanges to find the best way to improve those so that we can accommodate future traffic flows going through those areas,” said Andy Berg, a City of Sioux Falls engineer.
