The Battle of the Blades winner is...

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) version of March Madness is now over.

SDDOT hosts its own bracket during the month of March, but instead of brackets filled with names of college basketball teams, they’re names of snow plows submitted by kids from all over South Dakota.

This year’s bracket expanded as a battle between South Dakota and North Dakota, both holding their own brackets, with the two prevailing snow plows from each state facing off in the championship.

SDDOT announced on social media that the winner of the SDDOT vs. NDDOT Battle of the Blades is Thaw Patrol. Thaw Patrol was named by Winner Elementary’s first grade class.

Thaw Patrol faced off against Plower Ranger in the championship.

There were over 36,000 votes cast in the championship matchup alone.
