STURGIS, S.D. - On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, repair work is scheduled to begin on eastbound and westbound bridge decks and approach slabs on Interstate 90 approximately three miles west of Sturgis. Initial work will require lane closures for shoulder preparation in both directions prior to the bridge repairs.
Bridge repair work will start in the westbound lanes of I-90 utilizing lane closures for traffic control. Repairs in the eastbound lanes of I-90 will begin at a later date.
Motorists should be aware that a 12-foot width restriction will be in place when the bridge repair work begins. There will be a signed detour route diverting I-90 traffic at exit 17 onto U.S. Highway 85 and at exit 30 onto U.S. Highway 14A.
The prime contractor on the $2 million project is Journey Group Companies from Spearfish, SD. The project completion date is Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
