HURON, S.D. - On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, work will resume on the S.D. Highway 37 (Dakota Avenue) reconstruction project through Huron. The median on Dakota Avenue between U.S. Highway 14 and 3rd Street North will be removed to allow for temporary traffic operations.

On Monday, March 31, 2025, a road closure will be placed on Highway 37 in both directions from 7th Street South to 9th Street South. Traffic will be diverted by detours. Also at that time, traffic will be moved to a two-way configuration on the east side of Dakota Avenue from Market Avenue to Highway 14 allowing construction to begin on the west side of the road. The ongoing street scape project on Dakota Avenue is also scheduled to begin on Monday, March 31, 2025.

The prime contractor for this $19 million project is BX Civil and Construction, Inc. of Dell Rapids, SD. The overall project completion date is October 2025.
