Project Updates:
May 20, 2025:
April 15, 2025 – May 15, 2025, Completed Work: The southbound lanes have been closed down and traffic has been moved onto the northbound lanes. The granular surface on the southbound lanes has been reshaped and trimmed in preparation for the concrete paving.
Anticipated work May 15, 2025 – June 15, 2025: The concrete paving will begin when weather permits. The asphalt shoulders are anticipated to be completed for the southbound lanes after the concrete is placed. Traffic will be switched onto the newly surfaced southbound lanes. Milling and paving of the asphalt shoulders from west 39th Street to 306th Street and 300th Street to S.D. Highway 46 is planned to begin.
May 14, 2025:
Beginning in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 306th Street heading west from U.S. Highway 81, north of Yankton, will be closed while concrete paving operations take place through the intersection.
The intersection is anticipated to be closed for approximately seven days, weather dependent.
This work is part of a larger project that consists of reconstructing Highway 81 north of Yankton. The overall completion date for the surfacing project is November 2025.
