Project Updates:
July 18, 2025:
Two-way traffic has been switched to the new concrete surfacing in the southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 81 north of Yankton. Work on the northbound lanes surfacing is underway with anticipated completion by late September 2025.
This work is part of a larger project that consists of reconstructing Highway 81 north of Yankton. The overall completion date for the surfacing project is November 2025.

July 15, 2025:
June 15, 2025 – July 15, 2025, Completed Work: Joint sealing has been completed on the newly paved concrete surface, and the asphalt shoulders adjacent to the new concrete have been paved. Guardrail is being removed from the bridge on the northbound lanes and is being installed on the bridge on the southbound lanes. Paving on the asphalt shoulders from West 39th Street to 306th Street and 300th Street to S.D. Highway 46 is underway.
Anticipated work July 15, 2025 – Aug. 15, 2025: Traffic will be switched onto the newly surfaced southbound lanes the week of July 14th. The northbound lanes will be reshaped and regraded prior to placing concrete surfacing. The concrete paving is scheduled begin if weather permits.
