SDDOT Receives Special Transportation Circumstances (STC) Grant Program Funds for Statewide Rail Projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has awarded the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) approximately $54 million in funding through the Special Transportation Circumstances (STC) Grant Program.
Bridge Hit Repair Projects Scheduled on Interstate 90 at Exit 32 and Exit 57

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, work will begin to repair a bridge that was hit by an over height load on Interstate 90 over Junction Avenue at exit 32 (Sturgis).
Signals at Crazy Horse Memorial and Oreville Junction Scheduled to be Set for Flashing Operation

Beginning Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, the traffic signals at Crazy Horse Memorial and U.S. Highway 16/S.D. Highway 244 at Oreville Junction will be set to a flashing yellow/red operation mode.
Traffic Diversion Planned for S.D. Highway 37 Project North of Mitchell

UPDATED: Traffic switch now scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, traffic on East 38th Street in Mitchell will be diverted to East 54th Street throughout the reconstruction of the intersection of Harmon Drive and S.D. Highway 37.
Asphalt Shoulder Work Rescheduled on U.S. Highway 18 in Tripp, Gregory, and Bennett Counties

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) advises motorists that work to place asphalt shoulders on U.S. Highway 18 from Dallas to Burke and Martin to Swett will be delayed until next spring due to the contractor’s revised schedule.
