SDDOT Seeks Public Input for Proposed U.S. Highway 81 Reconstruction Project Near Madison

he South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold a public meeting open house on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to inform area residents of the proposed U.S. Highway 81 reconstruction project, extending from the S.D. Highway 34 junction to north of 9th Street NW in Madison.

The 85th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is scheduled for Aug. 1-10, 2025. Due to the increased traffic volumes expected during the annual Rally, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will activate temporary traffic adjustments.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, crews will begin asphalt milling and resurfacing on S.D. Highway 1806 between the junction of U.S. Highway 14 and Highway 1806 to the west end of the Oahe Dam (S.D. Highway 204).
