The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) in conjunction with the Rapid City Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), City of Summerset, and Meade County will hold a public meeting open house on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, from 5:30 – 7 p.m. MT to inform area residents and business owners of the proposed interchange modification study at Interstate 90, exit 48 (Stagestop Road).

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold a public meeting open house on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. MT to inform area residents and business owners of the proposed grading and interim surfacing project on S.D. Highway 63 from the west junction of U.S. Highway 20 to the south for 13 miles.
Interstate 90 Reopened from Mitchell to Rapid City

Eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from Mitchell to Rapid City reopened at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023. No Travel Advisories remain in place on some highways across the state.

The combination of accumulating snow, freezing rain, and strong winds is causing snow and ice covered roads along with blizzard-like conditions. With conditions approaching near zero visibility and significant drifting of snow, eastbound and westbound Interstate 90 closures are planned for Monday, Dec. 25, 2023.
